Kids Clothing Store

Wal-Mart is a popular place to shop, but many people shy away from buying their children's clothes there because they figure they are not of quality. While some clothing there does not last long, Wal-Mart has come a long way in clothing quality. As a mother and former nanny, I have purchased clothing from many different places on many different occasions. Wal-Mart was, and still is, one of those many places I frequently use to purchase clothing. Here, I will provide many of the brands of clothing you will find in a Wal-Mart store and tell you the pros and cons of each. Note that many of these can also be found on Walmart.com. You will find better selection in the stores for apparel, but you will find some great deals online as well. I use both for maximum benefits, as they each at times have unique items or prices that cannot be found at the other.

  George/Baby George   These come in all different styles and sizes. In this brand, you can find just about any type of children's clothing. Some that I have purchased include bodysuits, t-shirts, pajamas, rompers, dresses, short sets, coveralls, girls' blouses, skirts, an infant tuxedo, and many more. This brand is an overall favorite of mine because of the value as well as the quality and look. The George brand is modeled, in my opinion, to look and last just as long as department store clothes without the high price tag. In fact, sometimes I am amazed at how cute some of these clothes look. I have even found very suitable Easter dresses and, of course, Wal-Mart had hair accessories, hats, and purses that matched them easily. The accessories, hats, and purses were not George brand, however they complimented them very well. Prices range from $2.00 (clearance sale) to about $13.00 in baby and children's.

  Mary-Kate & Ashley   This brand is just for girls from sizes 4 and up. You can get choose from tanks, underwear, blouses, skirts, pants, jeans, shorts, and more. This brand is made to very trendy and stylish for today's girls. I have found this brand this brand to be both cute as well as of good quality. Many of the items we have bought in this brand have lasted a fair amount of time. Some were still in good shape to pass down to others. The average price for this clothing is about $8.00 for blouses and skirts, $12.00 for pants, and $5.00 for tanks. Some are more and some are less. Prices range from $2.00 ( Wal-Mart clearance sales) to around $16.00. This brand is another overall favorite due to quality, style, and affordability.

  Baby Connection/Kid Connection   This is typically the lowest priced brand in Wal-Mart. This brand cannot be found online. However, it can be found in Wal-Mart stores. The price range is from $1.00 (clearance) to about $10.00. The usual price for this brand is $4.88 or $5.88. In this brand, you'll find short sets, skirt sets, rompers, dresses, shorts, t-shirts, pajamas, socks, bodysuits, shoes, hair accessories, and more. I have not seen anything over $10.00 in this brand as far as apparel and apparel-related accessories. You can even get shoes for under $10.00 in this brand and they are also stylish. These clothing and shoes are usually in baby and toddler sizes. Surprisingly, though this brand is very low-priced, it is not too bad in quality. Sometimes the designs on the shirts fade if they are iron-on designs, but, other than that, these actually last quite some time. I have been able to hand down many items in this brand. Other than the fading in the iron-on designs, which only happens after very prolonged use, I have had no problems with this brand. Since this brand is so affordable, it's great for play clothes (at the park or at home) and comfortable clothing. Many times you can even find something really cute in this brand.

  Sand N' Sun    Judging by the name, I'm sure you can tell this is a seasonal Summer brand. Everything to be said about the Kid Connection brand is the same of this brand. My intuition says these are the Kid Connection brand, but made for Summer, but I may be wrong. I feel they are exactly the same as the Kid Connection brand.

  Raven Symon??   Much like the Mary-Kate & Ashley brand, the Raven Symon?? brand carries clothing for girls sized 4 and up. The Raven Symon?? brand comes in all the same items as the Mary-Kate & Ashley brand and is very similar. These clothes are stylish and affordable, with a price range and quality equal to the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand. This is another favorite brand. Everything said about the Mary-Kate $ Ashley brand applies to this brand as well.

  Faded Glory    Faded Glory is the brand most often associated with Wal-Mart stores. In this brand you will find anything from t-shirts, to jeans, to dresses, even hair accessories, and more. This brand also comes in school uniforms, which are of good quality and are long-lasting. These school uniforms are made to last and do not fade easily.

  In this brand, if a shirt or pair of shorts is made out of thin cotton, like the kind used for packaged t-shirts, it will likely shrink and fade. However, this is not always the case. If the material is thinner than other shirts, it is probably the one that will fade and shrink. Stick with thicker materials in this brand, possibly avoiding the t-shirts or t-shirt-like materials altogether. The polyester-type fabrics and thicker cottons, like those used in knitted sweaters or in thinner knit tops are usually okay with this brand. Actually, quite a few of those have shown to last just as long, if not longer, than some more expensive brands.

  Most of the jeans I have gotten in this brand were good quality. They did not tear easily. The only problem I had is that sometimes they fade after the first washing, but this is usually not the case. This only happened twice and they happily refunded the purchases when I presented the receipt and told them the situation. Sweatpants are one children's item I do not like in this brand. They usually fade very quickly. However, they do last long, so if you'll just be using them around the house, they're still a good buy. The overalls in this brand are a favorite, however, in the shorts overalls, sometimes the snaps don't fasten tightly enough and my son ended up with one pair that would unfasten so badly, it looked like he was wearing a dress, so I replaced the snaps myself. I'd advise checking the tightness of the snaps before purchasing the overalls.

  Athletic Works    This is the sporty brand of children's clothing. These clothes are surprisingly cute as well as long-lasting. Holding up to the Wal-Mart standards, they are also affordable. The prices range from $3.00 (clearance) to about $15.00 (jackets). The average price for a short set is about $9, however if you wait until they are on clearance, the entire set can be had for only $5. This brand is another favorite because sports-themed outfits can be purchased without breaking the bank. The quality has not let me down yet. Many of these have withstood being handed down as well.

  Wrangler    Wal-Mart also carries Wrangler jeans and apparel. These come in polo shirts, cargo shorts, and jeans. This is also a good quality brand offered at Wal-Mart, with prices ranging from $5 to $15. It's not a favorite of mine, but only because there isn't as much selection in this brand as the others.
